US conducts five-hour strike operation across Iran
The U.S. completed its latest wave of strikes against Iran, according to a CENTCOM statement published overnight.
The statement said the five-hour operation targeted military sites across Iran, including in Bandar Abbas along the Strait of Hormuz.
"CENTCOM forces employed precision munitions against Iranian coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime capabilities," it said, adding that the strikes were intended to "further degrade Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping."
CENTCOM noted that more than 50,000 U.S. service members are deployed across the region.
