US and Saudi Arabia sign civilian nuclear agreement

The U.S. Department of Energy has officially announced the signing of a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia.
A Saudi civilian official told Kan News that the agreement, which will allow the kingdom to develop civilian nuclear infrastructure, is expected to save 1.5 million barrels of oil per day by reducing domestic energy consumption.
The official stressed that the deal serves Saudi Arabia's internal interests and "is not directed against Israel or any other country in the region."
