US aircraft damaged in Iranian attack on Jordan airbase – report
Several U.S. military aircraft were damaged during an overnight Iranian attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, CBS reported. An A-10 Warthog sustained damage primarily to its wing, while about eight F-15 fighter jets suffered minor damage and have since returned to service.
U.S. forces reportedly launched more than 30 Patriot interceptor missiles during the attack. No American fatalities were reported.
The Iranian strike followed a U.S. attack on five Iranian tankers. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed its forces targeted eight tankers, two warships and the U.S.-used airbase in Jordan.
U.S. Central Command did not immediately respond to the report.
