Trump: Israel shouldn't strike in Gaza, US has 'own channel' with Hamas
U.S. President Donald Trump signaled that there is progress regarding the disarmament of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, stressing that Israel should not conduct airstrikes there at the moment.
Speaking to Fox News' Trey Yingst, the president said the U.S. has its own "channel" with Hamas and that "they agreed to lay down their weapons."
The report came as Trump's envoy Jared Kushner was meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem to discuss progress on the Gaza peace deal.
On Sunday, Kushner met directly with new Hamas chief Khalil al-Hayya in Egypt.
