There were indications but no intelligence warning night before Hamas attack, IDF confirms
In response to Israeli media reports noting that the IDF had received warnings before Hamas attacked Israel last Saturday, the IDF confirmed it had “certain indications” on Friday.
“We had no understanding of such an event. There were certain indications the night before, but not for such a move and not for a warning, and we will thoroughly investigate everything,” said IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Daniel Hagari.
According to a local Channel 13 news report, senior intelligence officers held discussions about the indications on Friday night and agreed to continue the conversation in the morning.
The officers were not convinced the indications pointed to an attack and, therefore, didn’t raise the alarm level with the army nor inform the political leadership.
