Terror leader indicted for killing IDF officer, leading Nur a-Shams battalion

The IDF Military Prosecution indicted the terrorist Kamal Khatib for the attack in which Sgt. First Class (res.) Yehuda Geto was killed, and another soldier was seriously wounded in July 2024, as well as for years of terror-related activities, the military said.

The attack that killed Geto was carried out via an explosive device that had been planted in the ground. Khatib “served as a member, commander, and ultimately head of the Nur al-Shams Battalion terrorist organization,” the IDF added.

“In addition to this incident, the defendant led a long series of terrorist activities, including managing and directing the Nur al-Shams Battalion, recruiting operatives for surveillance and production units, planting explosive devices, trafficking in weapons, and transferring funds and military equipment to terrorists.”

The camp was a terror hotbed for several years, causing the IDF to launch several large-scale operations there since 2023, killing dozens of terrorists and arresting dozens more.
