Talks on phase two of Gaza deal advancing despite challenges

A senior U.S. official told Al Jazeera that talks on advancing to the second phase of the Gaza agreement are moving forward and that the initial deployment of the international Gaza Stabilization Force is expected in early 2026, beginning with one or two countries. He said the force will not operate in areas under Hamas control and that the U.S. is in talks with several states — including Arab countries — about contributing troops, as well as helping establish a Palestinian police force for Gaza.
