Tajik citizen arrested for allegedly spying for Iran during the war

A Tajik citizen with a Russian passport was arrested last month on suspicion of spying for the Iranian regime, the police, Shin Bet and defense ministry announced in a joint statement.

The suspect allegedly maintained contact with an Iranian agent starting from January 2026 and through the war against Iran, during which he “sought to help Iran achieve operational successes and advance its objectives in the international arena,” the statement said.

He allegedly documented missile impact sites and sent locations and pictures of sensitive targets in Israel to the regime, while also helping to recruit other people.

“We call on the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious approach or recruitment attempt by foreign actors,” the security agencies urged.
