Syrian reports: IDF opens fire during protest against Israeli presence
Syrian state media reported that IDF forces opened fire during a protest against the Israeli military presence near the village of Maariya in southern Syria, close to the tri-border area.
According to the reports, young protesters attempted to block the road leading to the Al-Jazira base by placing rocks on the route. The base, formerly used by the Syrian military, has been occupied by the IDF since the early days following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
Syrian media also reported that the IDF carried out overnight strikes on the nearby village of Abidin after gunmen allegedly opened fire on Israeli forces, in what was described as a possible sign of growing armed resistance to the Israeli presence in the area.
