Syrian man who saved lives in Sydney attack receives death threats
Ahmed al-Ahmad, who tackled one of the attackers during the deadly mass shooting in Australia, is now receiving death threats on social media, Kan News reported on Thursday.
While many have praised al-Ahmad for his actions, people close to him say he has also received threatening messages from radical Islamist elements. The threats have been reported to Australian authorities over concerns for his safety.
In addition, ISIS labeled the Syrian man a “traitor” in an article published in its weekly magazine. While the group did not claim responsibility for the attack, it praised the assault and sought to exploit it to incite further attacks against Jews and Christians, particularly in Belgium, writing that “the holiday season is not over.”
