Syrian forces take over major oil fields in eastern Syria
Syrian army forces seized control overnight of the Al-Omar oil field, the country’s largest, and the Conoco oil field in eastern Syria, which had been under Kurdish control in coordination with the United States, according to Reuters.
Earlier reports from Syria said that Arab tribal forces loyal to the Syrian regime took control in the early morning hours of most of Deir ez-Zor province, previously held by Kurdish forces.
The takeover was reportedly carried out with little to no fighting, marking a significant shift in control in the region.
