Suspect killed after attempting to stab police officer in central Israel
A resident of Lod in central Israel was shot and killed on Wednesday after allegedly attempting to stab a police officer, Israeli police said.
According to police, officers in a patrol vehicle spotted the suspect holding a knife and ordered him to stop.
The suspect then ran toward a police unit operating in the area and allegedly tried to stab one of the officers, who opened fire and neutralized him.
