Supreme Court president: Public discourse on judiciary at “unprecedented low”
Israeli Supreme Court President Yitzhak Amit warned that public discourse surrounding the judicial system has reached an “unprecedented low.”
Speaking at a conference of the Israel Bar Association, Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara also cautioned against government-backed initiatives, arguing that Israel is witnessing an accelerated challenge to democratic institutions. “If in the past we spoke of democracies falling through small steps, the approaching end of the current Knesset’s term has triggered a race to dismantle democratic institutions,” she said.
