Storm Byron prompts IDF to impose leave freeze and activity restrictions
The IDF announced updated safety directives Wednesday, following instructions from the Chief of Staff, ahead of the approaching storm. Soldiers will not be permitted to leave their bases for home from today at 20:00 until Friday at 06:00. All foot and vehicle-based training is suspended unless specifically approved by a major general. The army also imposed a complete ban on navigation exercises of any kind — including escape drills, camouflage training and similar activities — as well as a ban on conducting marches. The IDF said the measures are intended to ensure soldiers’ safety during the severe weather.
