Storm Byron over the Mediterranean: Flight carrying Israelis diverted into Lebanese airspace
Israel’s Airports Authority reported Wednesday that an Aegean Airlines flight from Larnaca to Tel Aviv was diverted into Lebanese airspace — including over Beirut — due to weather conditions while under the supervision of Nicosia’s control center. The diversion was made to ensure passenger safety.
The aircraft was handed over to Israeli air control only after it had exited Lebanese airspace and landed in Israel at 11:05 a.m.
