State Comptroller warns Israel is unprepared for an aging population
Israel is not adequately prepared for the aging of its population over the next two decades, according to a new report by State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman.
The report highlights significant gaps in the healthcare system’s readiness to cope with demographic growth and a rapidly aging population. It warns that current planning and infrastructure fall short of the expected demand for medical and long-term care services.
The comptroller also found that the 2018 long-term care reform severely undermined the financial stability of the National Insurance Institute, which is projected to enter a cash-flow deficit by 2035.
