Son of Muammar Gaddafi killed in shootout in Libya
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, son and political heir of the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, was killed in a shooting in Zintan, northwestern Libya, Arab media reported Tuesday.
Sources close to the family told Al Arabiya that he was shot by a four-man cell at his home and that the attackers fled the scene. His death was also confirmed by a senior aide.
After his father’s fall, Saif al-Islam was captured by a militia, sentenced to death, and was wanted by the International Criminal Court on war crimes charges.
