Son of Israel’s US ambassador seriously wounded in West Bank ramming attack
An Israeli man around 40 years old was seriously injured in a ramming attack on Wednesday that occurred at the Beit Sira checkpoint on Route 443 according to Hebrew news media.
The victim was reportedly standing outside his vehicle at the time, when the terrorist, Suleiman Mahmoud, 29, from the village of Beit Ur al-Tahta, was driving a vehicle that veered off the road.
It has been confirmed by the Benjamin Regional Council spokesperson that the victim in the attack is the son of Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter. Tragically, the victim's brother, Major Moshe Yedidya Leiter, fell in battle in Gaza on Nov. 10, 2023.
Ambassador Leiter is currently en route from the U.S. back to Israel.
