Since Hamas' Oct. 7 massacre: Gaza border communities’ population grows by about 10%
Ahead of the third anniversary of the Oct. 7 massacre, the population of the Tekuma region has grown by about 10% compared with the period before the attack, according to Central Bureau of Statistics data released Thursday by the Tekuma Administration.
According to the figures, around 66,000 people now live in the Gaza border communities, approximately 5,000 more than before Oct. 7. The administration said the population has grown at 2.5 times the national average over the same period.
More than 90% of the region’s residents have already returned to their homes, according to the administration, while thousands of new residents who did not live in the area before the attack have also moved in.
Sderot, the largest city in the region, now has around 40,000 residents, accounting for more than half of the area’s population.
