Shas MK: ‘Those who don’t study Torah should enlist; IDF protects us, and so does Torah’
Shas MK Yinon Azoulay said in an interview with Kan News that those who do not study Torah should enlist in the IDF, while those who do study should be allowed to continue their studies.
“The IDF is a high-quality army that protects us, and the Torah also protects us,” Azoulay said. He distanced himself from protesters who chant “we will die rather than enlist,” saying they had demonstrated outside his home, attempted to break in and acted violently toward his son.
Azoulay said Shas had proposed economic and criminal sanctions, but that coalition members — rather than the opposition — had blocked them.
