Senior IDF officials warn chief of staff: Hamas rebuilding for another war
Senior officers from the IDF Intelligence Directorate and Southern Command have warned Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir that Hamas terror group in Gaza is rebuilding its military capabilities in preparation for another round of fighting, according to a Kan News report.
The officials said Hamas is producing hundreds of explosive devices and anti-tank missiles each month, recruiting new operatives, and restoring underground infrastructure throughout the Gaza Strip. According to the report, the IDF believes renewed military operations are necessary, while the U.S. administration opposes such a move.
Separately, Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council head Uri Epstein said the warnings must be taken seriously, arguing that “those who do not listen have learned nothing.” The report also said Hamas presented Russian officials with firm conditions regarding any future disarmament of the group.
