Senior IDF officers met with top Egyptian military officials in Cairo
A delegation of senior Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officers traveled to Cairo, where they held talks over the past two days with senior Egyptian military officials, Kan News reported on Thursday.
The visit took place despite strained relations between the two countries in recent years.
Officials familiar with the matter said the military talks were held as part of a broader strategic dialogue on the two countries' shared interests, against the backdrop of efforts to move forward with the next phase in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli officers also joined their Egyptian hosts in watching the dramatic World Cup match between Egypt and Argentina.
