Security Cabinet approves establishment and legalization of communities in Judea and Samaria
Israel’s security cabinet approved the establishment and formal legalization of 19 communities across Judea and Samaria.
The decision covers a mix of long-standing sites now slated for formal regulation, entirely new communities, and two that will be re-established after being evacuated from northern Samaria during the 2005 disengagement.
The proposal, submitted by Defense Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, passed unanimously and was coordinated in advance with the United States.
Last year, the Knesset repealed parts of the Disengagement Law, allowing Israelis to return to the evacuated areas.
