Sa'ar arrives in Ecuador in first Israeli FM visit in over four decades
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar arrived in Ecuador on Wednesday, marking the first visit by an Israeli foreign minister to the country in 44 years.
During the visit, Israel and Ecuador agreed to move forward with a free trade agreement and signed accords to strengthen cooperation in combating terrorism. The two countries also issued a joint declaration to expand collaboration in economy and innovation, and agreed to deepen cooperation through MASHAV, Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation.
Describing Ecuador as "a true friend of Israel," Sa'ar said the agreements reflect the strengthening of bilateral ties and expressed optimism that the partnership between the two countries will continue to grow.
Sa'ar is now traveling to Colombia, where he is scheduled to attend the inauguration of President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella, a supporter of Israel who has pledged to reestablish diplomatic ties with the country.
