Rocket fired from Gaza to area north of Eilat intercepted by IDF's ‘Arrow’ missile
A rocket launched from the Gaza Strip toward several Israeli communities in the Arava valley, north of Eilat, was intercepted by the IDF with an ‘Arrow’ missile on Saturday evening.
Alarm sirens were activated in several communities including Grofit, Yotvata, Yahel, Loten, Neot Smadar and Nave Harif, which are around 160 km (100 miles) from the Gaza Strip.
Hamas claimed responsibility for the launch, claiming that it fired an ‘Ayash 250’ missile.
This was the second-ever operational interception by the Arrow aerial defense system, following last week's incident where it was used to intercept a missile fired from Yemen toward Eilat.
