Rising toll of Iran demonstrations: at least 35 killed, 1,200 arrested

The Iranian regime’s crackdown on recent protests has left at least 35 people killed and more than 1,200 arrested since demonstrations began on December 28. As protests in Iran enter their 10th day, they have spread to more than 250 locations, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency, a US-based press association established by Iranian human rights advocates.

Iran’s Judiciary Chief, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i, stated at a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council: “If in some past instances leniency was shown toward certain individuals, this time there will be no leniency,” criticizing support shown by “the criminal usurping Zionist regime and criminal America.”
