Report: Lebanese president orders army not to confront IDF in event of ground incursion
Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, reported that during a government meeting held Monday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun instructed the army not to confront the IDF if Israeli forces advance into Lebanese territory or carry out a ground invasion.
According to the report, Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Rodolphe Haykal briefed ministers on how the military would respond to Israeli strikes. In response, Aoun reportedly said he was not prepared to risk the lives of Lebanese soldiers because someone decided to drag the country into war.
