Report: Iran transferred $200 million to Hezbollah – ‘Aid for 50,000 families whose homes were destroyed’

Hezbollah received $200 million from Iran “to assist displaced Lebanese,” Reuters reported Wednesday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

According to the sources, this represents Hezbollah’s first significant assistance to its Shiite supporters, who make up the majority of those displaced. The funds were transferred in cash last month, despite U.S. economic pressure on Iran and growing difficulties in transferring money from Tehran to its proxies.

According to the report, intermediaries who transferred the money to Hezbollah charged a 20% commission, which one source said was four times the usual rate. Hezbollah will reportedly use the funds to make an initial payment of $3,000 per family, with priority given to those whose homes were destroyed in the war with Israel. One source said approximately 50,000 families are involved.

The sources said it has become increasingly difficult for Hezbollah to transfer funds through financial companies that previously handled such transactions.
Companies based in Iraq and Dubai are no longer an option, one source said, adding that such companies are now also coming under pressure in Turkey.

According to the U.S. Treasury Department, Iran transferred $1 billion to Hezbollah during the first 10 months of 2025.
