Qatar and Pakistan to establish Lebanon de-escalation mechanism without Israel
Qatar and Pakistan plan to establish a mechanism aimed at preventing escalation in Lebanon that would not include Israel, according to statements made after the latest round of US-Iran negotiations.
Following 18 hours of talks, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the mediation efforts of Qatar and Pakistan had led to significant progress toward ending the war in Lebanon.
Earlier in the day, the Iranian delegation reportedly walked out of the talks after comments by President Donald Trump were viewed as threatening. However, a US diplomatic source said the negotiations continued despite the temporary disruption.
