“Project Sunrise”: Trump administration unveils plan for Gaza reconstruction
The Trump administration is reportedly drafting a sweeping economic and strategic plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip, dubbed “Project Sunrise,” according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
The initiative, led by a team headed by Jared Kushner and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, envisions transforming Gaza from widespread destruction into a tourism and business hub. A draft proposal presented to foreign governments and potential investors estimates the project’s cost at $112.1 billion over a decade, with the United States expected to contribute about $60 billion in grants and guarantees, and the remainder funded by donor states and the World Bank.
The plan projects that within ten years Gaza could become economically self-sustaining, largely through development and monetization of much of its Mediterranean coastline as a high-end resort area.
