Israel's Prisons Service chief warns: 'Terrorists are desperate — we are on the brink of an incident'
Prison Service Commissioner Kobi Yaakobi warned lawmakers during a Knesset discussion that Israel may be on the brink of a serious security incident inside its prisons.
He said the prisons are holding terrorists with proven operational capabilities, adding that in late 2023 many believed they would be released by 2024. “That hope has turned into despair,” Yaakobi said, warning, “From inside the prisons, I can say with certainty that we are on the verge of an event.”
