Poll: Half of Israelis want military action against Iran only if regime attacks first
Israelis are almost evenly split on whether they support Israel's involvement in a potential American military operation against the Iranian regime, according to a survey published by the Israel Democracy Institute.
According to the survey, 50% of Israelis want the country to participate only if the Iranian regime attacks first, while 44% support prior coordination and participation in a potential first strike by the U.S.
Among the Arab respondents, a much larger majority of 67% support Israeli involvement only if attacked, while a slight majority of Jews (48% versus 46%) want Israel to attack alongside the U.S.
Support for joining the U.S. in a potential strike was also larger among those on the political right than on the political left.
The survey was based on a representative sample population in Israel aged 18 and above, comprising 604 Jewish and 151 Arab interviewees.
