Police chase in Israel’s Negev ends with suspected weapons smuggler killed
A suspect was killed overnight during a police pursuit near the Ar’ara Bedouin encampments in the Negev, Israeli police said.
The chase began after officers identified a suspicious vehicle and ordered it to stop. The driver instead fled at high speed. Police fired at the vehicle’s tires in an attempt to halt it, but the car continued before losing control, overturning, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the pursuit, an M16 rifle was thrown from the fleeing vehicle, police said.
