‘One of us’: Israel sends home body of Thai worker killed on Oct. 7
Israeli and Thai officials held a farewell ceremony Tuesday at Ben-Gurion Airport for Thai farm worker Sudthisak Rinthalak, 43, whose body was returned from Gaza last week nearly two years after he was killed in the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack. Rinthalak was one of 39 Thai nationals murdered by the terrorists.
Israel’s Hostage Affairs Coordinator Gal Hirsch expressed sorrow on behalf of the state, calling Rinthalak “one of us” and saying, “You are now heading back home — we will never, never forget you.” His family will receive the same benefits and compensation granted to Israeli families who lost loved ones in the attack.
With Rinthalak’s return, only one hostage remains unaccounted for: former police officer Ran Gvili, whose body is still believed to be held in Gaza.
