Netanyahu: US and Lebanon recognized Israel’s right to remain in security zone
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the United States and Lebanon have recognized Israel’s right to maintain a presence in the security zone in southern Lebanon for as long as a threat exists, calling it “a tremendous achievement.”
According to Netanyahu, the arrangement deals a significant blow to Iran and Hezbollah, which he said had sought to force Israel into a withdrawal.
Addressing the emerging U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, Netanyahu said Israel was not a party to the agreement but has important interests at stake. He announced that Israel will send a delegation to Washington to present its position and outline its security concerns.
