Netanyahu promises missing girl’s family: “We will bring her back”

The Office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday evening that he met at the Knesset with the family of Haymanut Kasau, who has been missing since February 2024.

Netanyahu told the family he would personally get involved in the matter: “We will bring her back,” he affirmed. Ten-year-old Haymanut was last captured on security cameras entering the immigrant absorption center in Safed where she lives with her family.

Last week, it was reported that the police’s suspicion against a 63-year-old man from Beersheba, who had been arrested, had significantly lessened. He is no longer considered a suspect in Kasau’s abduction, but is now linked to a sexual offense against a 12-year-old girl in Beersheba. In December, Police Commissioner Danny Levi decided to move the case to the Lahav 433 crime-fighting unit.

The police launched a search for her at the time, but no leads were found. Last year, the Jewish Agency offered a reward of 100,000 shekels to anyone whose information the police determined led to her being found. The police also investigated the possibility of a sex-related crime and looked into known sex offenders, fearing that she may have fallen victim to one.
