Netanyahu met with families of those kidnapped by Hamas
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Israeli families of kidnap victims from the deadly Hamas invasion on October 7 Sunday evening.
The Prime Minister’s Office released a video of a somber Netanyahu meeting with the families and exchanging hugs and words of condolence.
The Israeli Government Press Office did not provide any details on what specifically was said at the meeting.
A group of families invited to the meeting issued a statement afterwards, saying that Netanyahu has promised to work for the return of the captives.
“Netanyahu told the families that one of the goals of the war is the return of the captive and missing,” the statement said.
Some families were upset at a statement by National Security Council Chief Tzachi Hanegbi, who stated that “Israel will not hold negotiations with an enemy that we have vowed to wipe from the face of the earth.”
The families said that Netanyahu assured them this statement did not represent his opinion on the matter.
