Netanyahu announces approval of gas deal with Egypt
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Wednesday that Israel has approved a major gas agreement with Egypt, paving the way for a possible meeting between Netanyahu and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Florida later this month.
The deal is valued at NIS 112 billion ($30 billion), with NIS 58 billion expected to flow into state revenues. Netanyahu said the agreement strengthens Israel’s status as a regional energy power, contributes to regional stability, and encourages further investment in gas exploration in Israel’s economic waters.
