4.2 magnitude earthquake felt in Arad and the Dead Sea Region

A 4.2-magnitude earthquake was felt this morning (Thursday) in the Dead Sea area, the southern Negev, and parts of the country. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the epicenter was near Dimona. Magen David Adom (Israel’s national emergency service) reported that no unusual calls were received.

Earthquake alerts were received at a number of locations, including Arad, the Rotem Industrial Zone, Al-Fura’a, Kfar HaNokdim, Ein Bokek, the Dead Sea hotels, Mitzpe Shalem, Neot HaKikar, Ein Tamar, Neve Zohar, Masada, and the Ein Gedi springs.

Last November, two minor earthquakes were felt in Israel following a moderate quake in the Cyprus region. The tremors were felt in Ma’ale Adumim, and residents in northern areas also reported feeling them.
