Microsoft report reveals: Israel ranks 2nd worldwide in number of cyberattacks; Iran is main source of attacks
Israel ranks second worldwide in the number of cyberattacks, according to Microsoft’s 2026 Digital Defense Report, published today (Thursday).
According to the report, attacks against Israel accounted for 7.6% of all cyberattacks worldwide between January and June 2026. Israel suffered more attacks than countries such as Ukraine and Taiwan, which accounted for 4.8% and 3.9%, respectively, of all attacks during this period. However, there is still a considerable gap between Israel and the United States, which ranked first worldwide, with 25.5% of cyberattacks targeting it.
In numerical terms, the report examined the number of attacks between June 2025 and July 2026. Israel also ranked second by this measure, with 210 attacks identified as targeting the country. Taiwan and Japan followed closely behind, suffering 193 and 172 attacks, respectively, during this period.
