Liberman: Opposition candidate for Israeli prime minister will be decided only after election
Yisrael Beytenu Chairman Avigdor Liberman said Sunday that the opposition parties will not select a joint candidate for prime minister until after the upcoming election.
Speaking to Army Radio following a meeting of opposition party leaders, Liberman was asked who would represent the bloc as its candidate for prime minister.
“We’ll decide after the election,” he said.
Liberman argued that choosing a single candidate in advance would not necessarily benefit the opposition, pointing to the results of previous elections.
“When we went into the last election with one leader, we lost; when we went with five leaders, we won,” he said.
