Lebanon officially names its representative for negotiations with Israel
Amid rising tension in the north and the arrival of the U.S. envoy in Lebanon, Beirut announced the appointment of former Lebanese ambassador to the U.S. Simon Karam as its representative for talks with Israel. The Hezbollah-aligned newspaper Al-Akhbar reported that the decision sparked anger within the organization and further heightened internal tensions.
