Lebanese officials wary of growing Turkish influence, report says
Lebanese officials are increasingly concerned about Turkey's attempts to expand its influence in Lebanon, but believe the country's leadership cannot openly oppose Ankara, according to a Kan News report.
The report says Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is seeking to strengthen his political foothold through Lebanon's Sunni community. A Lebanese source told Kan News that the government is trying to manage the issue cautiously, particularly because U.S. President Donald Trump is seen as backing Turkey.
