Lapid after security briefing: Security forces prepared for elections, no reason to cause public panic
Following a security briefing with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid said that Israel’s security forces are prepared for the elections and that there is no reason to cause panic among the public.
Netanyahu’s office said after the meeting: “The intelligence briefing presented detailed warnings of possible attacks on the various fronts ahead of the elections.”
Lapid said he would not violate the confidentiality of the briefing but added:
“Updates about threats should come from the professional authorities, from the IDF and the Shin Bet, not from the Twitter account of a politician who is in the middle of an election campaign.”
“Before October 7, Netanyahu did not pay attention to any warning; 28 days before the elections, suddenly he is busy spreading fear,” Lapid said.
