Kurds slam Israel’s insufficient response amid Syria talks: 'We are facing a massacre'
A senior official in the Kurdish forces in Syria sharply criticized Israel’s conduct, following Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar’s condemnation of recent attacks by the forces of Al-Shara’s regime. His remarks were reported this morning on KAN News.
Last night, amid intensified clashes between the Syrian government and the Kurdish minority in the north, Sa’ar called on the international community to act against the attacks, just two days after Israel and the Damascus government resumed talks under U.S. mediation.
The senior Kurdish official told KAN News that whenever Israel-Syria talks progress, the regime increases pressure on minorities: “In the past, it was the Druze, and now it’s the Kurds. We are grateful to Foreign Minister Sa’ar for his position, but on the ground Israel does nothing. We are facing a massacre—so what good are statements?” he stressed, adding that Israel must go beyond words and make concrete protection of minorities conditional on the Syrian regime.
