Kurdish sources warn Turkey is seizing areas in northern Syria, eyeing Iraqi border
Kurdish sources in Syria claim that Turkey is seizing areas in the north of the country and is also planning to take control of areas near the Iraqi border in eastern Syria, Kan News reported on Thursday.
According to officials from Kurdish human rights organizations in northern Syria, Turkey’s entrenchment in the area is not new, with its presence dating back nearly a decade.
A military source who previously served with Kurdish forces said: “Syrian factions backed by Ankara have been incorporated into al-Sharaa’s army, and they are facilitating the smuggling of Iranian weapons along the Iraqi border.”
