Knesset speaker Ohana: ‘I’m proud we defied a Supreme Court ruling’
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana said he was “proud” that the Knesset refused to comply with a Supreme Court ruling ordering a new election for state comptroller, according to recordings of a conversation with Likud activists aired by Kan News.
Ohana said the Knesset had drawn a “red line” against the court, arguing that the ruling was issued without authority. The Supreme Court had unanimously ordered a new vote after finding that lawmakers filming their ballots constituted a serious breach of the legally required secret voting process.
