Keeping a low profile, Jews in Iran avoid protest hotspots

Members of Iran’s Jewish community are keeping a low profile amid ongoing protests, avoiding areas of unrest and public visibility.

In recent days, Younes Hammami, one of the community’s senior figures, took part in a virtual conference in Tehran marking the sixth anniversary of the killing of Qasem Soleimani, alongside representatives of Hezbollah and Hamas.

Community members are seeking to distance themselves from the protests and emphasize loyalty to Iran’s ruling regime. While daily life has not changed significantly, caution remains high, particularly after most Jews detained during the recent “With a Lion” operation were released, with one person still in custody.
