Israel’s proposal to Lebanon ties IDF withdrawal to Lebanese army effectiveness - report

Israel is expected to propose a phased security arrangement under which the IDF would gradually withdraw southward as the Lebanese Army demonstrates greater effectiveness in securing southern Lebanon, according to sources who spoke to Kan News.
U.S. officials said Hezbollah’s recent actions are aimed at derailing the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Washington, which are intended to achieve a ceasefire. The next round of talks is scheduled to begin Tuesday, with preparatory discussions starting beforehand.
Under the reported proposal, Israeli forces would initially remain in their current positions. However, as the Lebanese Army expands its control and enforcement capabilities, the IDF would reduce the size of the security zone under its control and pull back accordingly.
