Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar meets U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met with U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio at the State Department in Washington, the Foreign Ministry stated.

According to the statement they "discussed the situation in the Middle East as well as the situation and shared opportunities for countries in Latin America and Africa."

Sa’ar "referred to developments in Latin America and said that the continent is experiencing a shift with major opportunities. He informed the Secretary of State about the renewal of relations between Israel and Bolivia and shared his impressions from his meetings with his Bolivian counterparts. Sa’ar said that the renewal of relations with Bolivia is part of a significant process of strengthening Israel’s ties with countries across the continent."

They also discussed "the conduct of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague and the scandalous steps it has taken against Israel’s prime minister and former defense minister."

"Regarding Gaza, Minister Sa’ar said that Israel insists on the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of the Strip in accordance with the Trump plan. He emphasized that attempts to 'water down' Hamas’s obligation to disarm must not be accepted," the statement concluded.
